Growing Something Good for the Community

Sometimes a business begins with a formal plan, a conference table, and a spreadsheet.

And sometimes it begins while floating around Navarre Beach in kayaks, talking with a friend about how you might make a difference in your community.

That’s how New Roots Farms began.

The two friends — now co-owners — were looking for a business they could build that would genuinely help others. With friends and family members having faced serious health challenges, including cancer, they became increasingly interested in nutrition, wellness, and the role everyday food choices can play in supporting a healthy lifestyle.

Then they discovered microgreens.

What began as an interest quickly became a passion for learning, growing, experimenting, and sharing that knowledge with others.

From Tiny Greens to Growing Roots

Over the next five years, New Roots Farms continued to grow right along with its microgreens.

They developed microgreen mixes with different nutritional qualities in mind, giving customers an easy way to incorporate these tiny but nutrient-packed greens into everyday meals.

But their curiosity didn’t stop there.

Their commitment to wholesome ingredients eventually expanded to include freeze-dried dog treats, including treats made with broccoli microgreens, bringing some of that same thoughtful approach to the four-legged members of the family.

They also created three flavors of freeze-dried sea moss, offering another unique option for people exploring nutrient-rich foods and ingredients.

More Than What They Grow

At the heart of New Roots Farms is something bigger than a product.

It’s education.

From the beginning, they have made sharing what they learn an important part of what they do — talking with people about microgreens, nutrition, ingredients, and practical ways to make more intentional choices for themselves and their families.

Over the years, those conversations have allowed them to connect with people throughout the community who are exploring their own paths toward healthier living.

What started as two friends floating in kayaks and asking, “What can we do that will help our community?” has grown into a local business built around food, education, curiosity, and care.

And those are some pretty good roots to grow from. 🌱
